Overcoming Obstacles: Focus on the step not the stumble
Kelly shares her insight into how
she approached
obstacles that initially seemed unconquerable. Her conditioning to use
her resources and break down each mountain into steps helped her
manage what was within her ability. She has learned the value of
educating herself in preparation to defend against becoming a mental
or physical victim of any given challenge. It’s her perspective to
view each step as an opportunity to climb rather than to fall.
Teamwork: Two hearts are better than one
Kelly has demonstrated tremendous commitment to regain her strength
and return to climbing, however, it was only through Craig’s support
that she was able to shatter her personal expectations. Like Craig,
Kelly is one half of the equation. Without their combined effort, their
achievements may never have been fully realized. As Kelly says, "if
one heart can accomplish so much, imagine the power of two".
Goals: Vision followed by persistence
To see a great distance you must first have a vision. Then open your
eyes, roll up your sleeves and dedicate yourself to realizing your
goals. This is what Kelly has demonstrated in her unique
ability of realizing her aspirations. Her "breaking trail"
attitude has helped her maintain a course that always paralleled the
paths of her intended conquests. By harnessing her experiences and
overcoming her human frailties, even the most taxing routes were
ultimately of no match to her combined objectives.
Courage: Living without nerves
Since a transplanted heart no longer has nerves connected to the
brain, Kelly and Craig speak with authority on the subject of moving
ahead despite physical or self-imposed limitations. Although Kelly is
now "wired" differently, her delayed physiological response
has not dampened their spirit to live. As Kelly has stated I the past,
"I am not afraid of dying, I am afraid of not living."
Success: Patiently building your legacy
Kelly knows that not all successes come overnight. Inspired
by others, their heightened motivation has led them to seek unique life
experiences and conscientiously make a positive impact for others to
build upon. They describe their only limitations as their dreams, which
according to Albert Einstein, is a preview of life’s coming
attractions.
Boundaries: Explore and expand
Kelly inspires her audiences to recognize that the future
is full of endless possibilities, and our self-imposed limitations can
only be dispelled once they are identified. Having
already experienced the mountaineers "death zone" in a less
conventional way; they have gone on to help pave the way for others to
allay their fears, expand their boundaries, and envision their own
personal heights.
